Roof Racks

The 4WD Systems Steel Roof Rack has been designed with strength, durability and good looks foremost in mind. The load carrying capacity of a roof rack and its ability to withstand the rigours of 4WD driving is highly dependant upon its design, the mounting system, the choice of materials and quality of finish.

4WD Systems manufacture an extensive range of steel roof racks to suit most makes and models of 4WD vehicles. A Systems Roof Rack allows you to carry all the extra gear needed when touring that is either unsuitable or unsafe for the interior of the modern 4WD but without the cost or off-road limitations imposed by towing a trailer.

Designed for load carrying capacity and functionality. They are available in Complete basket or Tradsesman style basket (no ends). Optional features available are mesh floor, wind deflector, spare wheel mounting points, light and aerial mounts, hi-lift jack mount, long handle shovel holders, ladders and a variety of manufactured options suitable for tradesman, dinghy owners and a host of custom options.

The continuous gutter mounting system is probably the most important design feature of a Systems roof rack. The mounting foot is computer profile cut to specifically match the gutter profile. This design allows the weight of the rack to be distributed evenly over the entire length of the gutter or roof mount zone as opposed to a few individual points on a conventional rack. Modern 4WD gutters and mount zones need this support. The uprights are tied together by the contoured continuous mounting foot which results in a more secure attachment system, less prone to vibration, shifting or bending the uprights.

This also means that when it comes time to change vehicles, the easily removeable leg system can be interchanged with a leg set to suit the new vehicle, hence saving the cost of purchasing a new basket.

The basket, made from 25mm formed tubing, looks good and will not crack even after extended vibration or due to heavy loads because there are no butt welded corners. The optional mesh floor is supported by multiple cross members meaning more load can be carried without the mesh sagging on the roof. Two people are easily supported for loading purposes.

Undercoated with an anti-corrosive coating, finished in powdercoat, the Systems roof rack is hard wearing, resists scratching and the galvanised mesh doesn't rust on this wear prone area.
